Why the brave are rewarded - 18.10.2025
My name is Angela, I’m 35 years old, single for what feels like forever, a hopeless romantic, world traveler, diver, and free spirit. And I’m writing this for you—if you feel deep down that there must be more to life. For you, if you quietly suffer from the absurdities life throws your way. For you, if you’ve forgotten what it means to feel alive.
Exactly two years ago, I made the decision that my life couldn’t go on like this. I started my career in banking at 15 with an apprenticeship in Switzerland. I worked in various positions in the banking world for over 17 years. For the last five years, I managed a small bank branch. I was efficient, structured, successful, compliant. I kept studying, managing, organizing, networking, delivering. And yet, I somehow always felt like a stranger in my own life. Too loud, too sensitive, too wild, too deep, too direct, too real. I wanted to belong, to be successful, to appear polished—and so I adapted. But the happiness I was searching for? It never came.
Eventually, I realized how much I was draining myself. I felt depleted and unfulfilled. My weekends weren’t about enjoying nature or moving my body anymore. Saturdays were for catching up on all the chores. And so many Sundays, I just lay on the couch or in bed—because I had no energy left.
Then came that one Sunday. Lying on the sofa, my whole body was vibrating. And I heard my inner voice speak with unbelievable clarity: "Go! Quit your job, forget your fears—trust your life, trust your inner voice."
And me?
I chose to trust. To change. I walked away. I quit my job. And I decided to face my fears.
Yes, it took time—life-changing decisions don’t happen overnight. But I had wonderful support. I invested in coaching. I decided to invest all my energy into myself—and to step into the unknown.
For the past 14 months, I’ve been traveling. For 14 months, I’ve been living in summer. My journey has taken me to the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Fiji, Aitutaki, Croatia, New York, and Greece—with two brief stops in Switzerland. Wild combo? Yes. A totally wild combo.
I’ve witnessed the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, discovered the most remote islands in the Pacific, released baby turtles into the ocean, caught and cooked my own fish, and dived with countless sea creatures.
For 14 months, I’ve lived in either a bikini or a sundress. My skin is sun-kissed, my hair wild, the ends couldn’t be more damaged. I shape each day however I want—or don’t.
I’ve met so many amazing people. I’ve laughed, loved, and danced countless times. Free, wild, carefree—and deeply happy.
And I’ve spent countless evenings alone. Eaten dinner by myself. Cried. Sometimes from exhaustion, or a bad bed, or tropical heat, or sand in every imaginable place, or dull knives, or creepy bugs, or an ear infection in the middle of nowhere, or the overwhelm in Papua New Guinea, or doubts about myself, or the damn goodbyes to people I grew close to, or the pain of the stories I heard, or the uncertainty of where I’d be in two weeks, or financial worries—or simply the deafening silence of being alone.
And in that silence, I found myself. I found the Angela I had been desperately searching for. And today, I embrace the world out there. I am filled with reverence and gratitude for this life.
I’ve found my voice. And my heart.
I’m not writing this to tell you to quit everything and travel the world. (Though… maybe?) I’m writing because I know what it feels like when life no longer sounds like you. And because I want to tell you:
You’re allowed to rewrite your story. You’re allowed to be scared and still move forward. You’re allowed to question everything and still be brave.
Being brave doesn’t mean being fearless. Being brave means trusting your inner voice and your heart more than your fears and doubts.
And if you’re at a point where you feel like you can’t go on: stop. Breathe. Listen.
This is the moment for your voice. You can choose yourself again, every day.
Life rewards the brave. Not always right away. Not always in the way we expect. But life rewards the brave—with authenticity. With freedom. With peace. With bliss. With a life lived fully in the now.
Every day.
Angela
